Lisa Ekman spent twenty years as a democratic advocate and lobbyist working and living in Washington D.C. During that time she worked for two well known democratic senators, political appointees at a federal agency, government contractors, and several non-profit organizations. She was a disability advocate and lobbyist, working alongside people with disabilities to expand and improve federal disability programs. 

The lack of any scientific basis for the actions of the government during the COVID-19 "pandemic", along with the censorship of dissenting scientific opinions, opened her eyes to the fact that she had somehow become a member of a cult working to bring about a cultural revolution in the United States. She realized that she and other members of the left had been programmed, brainwashed, and indoctrinated to help transform the constitutional republic that she loves into a communist government. She deprogrammed herself and decided to write a book to help others wake up. 

Lisa, like so many recently awakened people, finds herself politically homeless. Although her book focuses on the left and the democrats, she believes that people in the United States all along the political spectrum have been brainwashed and programmed. Her book and speeches focus on democrats because that is the world she knows. She is conservative, in that she wants to conserve our Constitutional Republic and that traditional values that were essential to creating the country (especially family and faith) are under attack as a part of the effort to undermine the country that she loves. At the same time, she knows that the democrat and republican parties are just two wings of the same bird and that the political establishment no longer represents we the people. The rise of political violence in the United States and the dehumanization of people who think differently is extremely concerning to her. She believes that honest conversations with people reminding them of the things we have in common is essential to preserving our Constitutional Republic. She hopes to spread a message of unity and hope.  

Lisa Ekman has a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University, a master’s in social work from the University of Denver, and a bachelor’s in communication and rhetoric from Northwestern University. She moved to a farm in Virginia in 2020 after she woke up and deprogrammed herself. She lives with her partner, their five dogs, and chickens on their farm, where they grow organic fruits and vegetables.
